BENGALURU: About 17 lakh students pursuing state syllabus in government, aided and unaided schools will write class 5 and 8 exams beginning Monday.
This is the first time that students of these grades are writing exams together across the state. While this sounds akin to boards, there is no scope for detaining a student if he/she fails the exam, which is considered an exercise for mere assessment of learning outcomes.
The results will be communicated to the parents and students concerned. Questions are based on the textbook syllabus. Commissioner of public instruction Vishal R said 17 lakh students will be writing the exams from Monday in their respective schools.
While class 5 students will complete the exams on March 30, class 8 exams will conclude on April 1. The evaluation at taluk level will be done by April 5 for class 5 students and April 7 for class 8 students. tnn
