BENGALURU: A 30-year-old gas agency employee was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly murdering his friend over a fight related to bill payment at a bar in Indiranagar.
Prakash L, 28, a cab driver from Appareddypalya, was stabbed to death, allegedly by Manjunath alias Chikka, a resident of Indiranagar. Manjunath’s associate Jai Kumar and other accused are absconding. Deputy commissioner of police (east) Bhimashankar S Guled said there was a clash between Prakash and the accused over bill payment. The gang attacked and stabbed Prakash when he left the bar on July 29. Prakash succumbed to injuries at Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital on Wednesday morning.
Before his death, Prakash had told police in the hospital that Manjunath, who was partying with Jai Kumar and another group, had a fight with the bar cashier over bill payment. Prakash told Manjunath not to argue and pay the bill. That enraged Manjunath and Kumar. Prakash left the bar with two friends and reached near Doopanahalli arch at 11pm when he was chased and attacked by the accused. “They started abusing me for asking them to pay the bill. Kumar took out a knife and stabbed me in the stomach. He also attacked my friend Suneel and stabbed him in the hand,” Prakash had told police.
