Alibag: Alibag Engineer Writes To Raigad Sp After Cops Ignore Her Rape Fir | Navi Mumbai News – Times of India

NAVI MUMBAI: A 27-year-old civil engineer from Alibag, has complained to the Raigad superintendent of police in writing about non-cooperation by a few police stations with regards to her rape FIR. She has also stated that Kharghar police and Panvel City police stations had passed the buck and made her go to the other police station,thereby wasting a lot of time. Her FIR was registered at Mandwa police station in Raigad district but is probed by the deputy SP-Alibag. She however said that she was raped several times at different locations by the accused.
She has also alleged that the investigating police officer had tea and snacks at the house of the accused. The woman has accused an MIDC regional officer-Amravati, Prashant Padalkar (36), of rape which TOI had reported on February 17, 2023. The woman is a resident of Vasai. They had met on an online dating app. She says that she was raped a number of times at Alibag, Ratnagiri and Panvel locations while the accused assured to marry her, which he did not do so eventually.
After learning that the accused is marrying someone else, the woman turned up at Padalkar’s flat in Kharghar, sector 3 on February 10. She was allegedly assaulted there by the accused.
In her letter to Raigad SP, the woman mentions eight points about the police including, denial to record her statement, not putting her caste in the complaint, keeping her waiting, sending her alone at 9pm for medical test at the sub district hospital in Panvel, not carrying a storage device for CCTV footage on February 17, 2023, not checking CCTV footage of the neighbour of the accused, the police taking tea and snacks at the residence of the accused on February 22, 2023 while making her wait outside, deputy SP-Alibag Sonali Kadam avoiding meeting her.
Activist Sanchu Menon said, “The investigating officers should conduct in-camera probe of crime spots, while visiting residence and office of the accused etc., involving politicians and government officials to maintain sanctity of the investigation.”
Raigad SP Somnath Gharge said, “Her complaint will be looked into.”
The accused has been booked for rape, sexual intercourse without consent and causing hurt under IPC and under Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.
