GURDASPUR : Three ISI backed Pakistan intruders attempted to infiltrate into India from the Gurdaspur sector on Wednesday night but they had to flee after Border Security Force (BSF) troops opened fire at them.
A BSF official who didn’t want to be named informed that during the intervening night of April 21 and 22, the BSF troops deployed in the Gurdaspur sector along the Pathankot district foiled an intrusion bid made by three Pakistanis.
“Our jawans noticed suspicious movement at around 10 pm on Wednesday night and warned the intruders but when they didn’t give any heed to BSF’s warning. After that our troops opened fire which forced them to retreat”, said a BSF official.
He informed that during a search operation conducted on Thursday, the footprints of three Pakistanis were found near river Ujh.
“Despite the worsening pandemic situation and sharp rise in Covid 19 cases in Pakistan, it’s anti Indian machinery is working overtime to exploit every situation and continue to indulge in its subversive activities” said an intelligence official on condition of anonymity.
He further said that there had been several incidents of sighting of drones in Gurdaspur sector in recent past. In December 2020 police had recovered 11 Austrian grenades which were air dropped in Salach village near Dorangala town of Gurdaspur district. Two days after airdropping of the ammunition, police had recovered an AK 47 rifle, and ammunition from a mustard field in Wazirpur village which was also believed to be airdropped by drones originating from Pakistan, he added.
Meanwhile, presumably to overcome its embarrassment, the BSF issued a clarification on Thursday that it had inadvertently written to the police to register a FIR against a pigeon on whose leg a BSF jawan had found a slip having a Pakistan mobile number.
“The error was inadvertent, police had begun the investigation into the Pakistan mobile number and the pigeon has been handed over to the forest department”, said a BSF official.
Notably, on Wednesday, BSF had written a letter to the in-charge of Kahangarh police station, Amritsar, that a pigeon had perched on the shoulder of a BSF constable who found a paper slip attached to the bird’s leg having a Pakistan mobile number and had asked the police to register a FIR against the pigeon.
