Animal hosp near Kol to start OPD services at 30 a patient | Kolkata News – Times of India

KONNAGAR (HOOGHLY): A first-of-its-kind animal hospital, which will be run by the local civic body, has come up in Konnagar.
The hospital will begin its OPD services from June 5 and will charge Rs 30 per patient.
It will work with two veterinary experts, who retired from government services, and two assistants.
Konnagar Municipality chairperson Swapan Das said, “Konnagar and the adjoining areas did not have such a hospital. Pets are now common in every household. Moreover, there are also people who help and feed strays and want some medical attention for them.”
Das said he had given the proposal to the state and the municipality office-bearers. Both backed it. The two-storied hospital is located on a municipality land near Konnagar railway station. The OPD services will begin from the first floor. The hospital admissions will be done later when the second floor is ready. The hospital was inaugurated on Saturday in the presence of Serampore MP Kalyan Banerjee.
Das said, “People’s reaction has been very positive. We needed such a veterinary hospital, where animals can get treatment at a reasonable price.”
