Apple discontinues Apple TV 4K 2017 edition – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Apple announced the next generation Apple 4K TV at its Spring Loaded event. The new sixth generation Apple TV packs A12 chipset and features a redesigned Siri Remote. Along with introducing the new Apple 4K TV, the company has made changes in its set-top box lineup and has discontinued the previous generation Apple TV 4K.
After launching the new Apple 4K TV, the company has stopped selling the fifth generation Apple TV, which was also known as the first Apple TV 4K. The device was powered by an A10X chipset which the company used in the second-generation iPad Pro.
However, the company will continue selling the fourth-generation Apple TV which was introduced in 2015 which came with an A8 chip borrowed from Apple iPhone 6. This model of the Apple TV comes with 32GB internal storage and will now come with the new Siri Remote.
The new Apple TV 4K will be available starting at Rs 18,900.Customers can order the new Apple TV 4K beginning Friday, April 30, with availability beginning in the second half of May in more than 30 countries and regions. You will have to pay extra for the Siri Remote.
The new Siri Remote will be available separately for Rs 5,800, and is compatible with the previous-generation Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD.
The new Apple TV 4K offers support for high frame rate HDR (High Dynamic Range) and Dolby Vision video. It works with the iPhone and its sensors to improve a television’s picture quality. Apple TV uses the light sensor in the iPhone to compare the colour balance.
On the other hand, the new and redesigned Siri Remote comes with clickpad control that offers five-way navigation for better accuracy, and is also touch-enabled for the fast directional swipes
