BEST also plans to relocate some of the bus stands and stops between Dahisar and Andheri closer to the metro stations

MUMBAI: In a bid to provide last-mile connectivity to Metro commuters, the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) plans to introduce 25 new bus services for passengers of Dahisar and DN Nagar Metro 2-A line, which is expected to be operational this year.

BEST also plans to relocate some of the bus stands and stops between Dahisar and Andheri closer to the metro stations. The plan aims to ensure minimal traffic congestion and provide easier and direct access to commuters taking metro services.

“We have identified areas where the bus stops will be relocated. This is being done keeping the traffic congestion in mind. Nearly 25 new routes will be started,” said Lokesh Chandra, general manager, BEST.

Feeder routes with mini and midi buses that can be easily accommodated on the city’s roads will be operated.

“We are in talks with the BEST on how commuters can get the last-mile connectivity option from the metro stations. BEST will shift a few bus stops and have new routes for upcoming metro corridors, and we are in discussion with them to facilitate their initiatives,” said SVR Srinivas, Metropolitan Commissioner, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).

As other metro corridors in the city become operational, BEST will operate a total of 175 new bus routes to facilitate a smooth commute.
