With the politics in Himachal heating up before the general assembly polls, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Jagat Prakash Nadda will be on a three-day tour to Himachal Pradesh from April 9 to 11. BJP state president Suresh Kashyap said Nadda will reach the state capital on April 9 and will visit his home district Bilaspur on April 10. He will return to Delhi the next day.
“Nadda is coming to Himachal for the first time after the spectacular victory in assembly elections in the four states,” said Kashyap.
He said Nadda would be accorded a warm welcome on his arrival in Himachal in Shimla followed by a roadshow.
“He will officially launch the party’s poll campaign for the Shimla municipal elections and the general assembly elections. More than 15,000 party workers will attend the function,” he said.
On April 10, the party national president will participate in various party meetings. He will attend a booth meeting at Arki on way to Bilaspur.
Nadda will also be accorded a grand welcome at Namhole, Tutu, Darlaghat, Chamakari Bridge.
Chief minister Jai Ram Thakur said that Nadda’s visit will instil vigour in party workers.
Before Nadda’s visit, the party has planned a grand event on April 6, which is also the foundation day of the party.

Amid infighting between camps in the Congress, the central leadership on Monday held consultations with senior party leaders from the state to resolve issues in the poll-bound Himachal Pradesh. All India Congress Committee in-charge of Himachal affairs Rajeev Shukla held separate discussions with the Leader of Opposition Mukesh Agnihotri and former Pradesh Congress Committee president and Nadaun legislator Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu before meeting Congress general secretary (organisation) KC Venu Gopal.

Ludhiana man molests sister-in-law, booked
A man was booked for molesting his sister-in-law on Sunday. The 26-year-old complainant, a resident of Bawa Colony, who had gotten married five years ago, said her husband’s brother had only multiple occasions attempted to establish a physical relationship with her. She had told her husband as well, but to no avail. A case has been registered under Section 354 (use of criminal force intending to outrage a woman’ s modesty) of the Indian Penal Code.

On Monday, the birthdays of 23 police personnel were made all the more special after Ludhiana commissioner of police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar wished the cops on their special day, and handed them certificates-cum-greeting cards signed by chief minister Bhagwant Mann and DGP VK Bhawra. Driver dead, 39 injured after HRTC bus rams into retaining wall in Himachal’s Mandi
The driver of a Himachal Road Transport Corporation bus was killed and 39 passengers injured when the vehicle rammed into a retaining wall near Pandoh in Mandi district on Monday afternoon. The bus was on its way from Manali to Shimla, Mandi superintendent of police Shalini Agnihotri said. There were 40 passengers on board. Police personnel, firefighters and home guard jawans rescued the victims. The cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained.

Five held with 2.6kg opium,1.5kg cannabis in Ludhiana
Five people were arrested with 2.6kg opium and 1.5kg cannabis in two separate incidents on Sunday. In the first case, four people were arrested with 2.6kg opium near Quality Chowk. Acting on a tip-off, the police stopped the accused – Deepak and Deen Dayal of Bihar, Vijay Singh of Lohara and Sarvesh Singh of Giaspura – for checking, while they were crossing the area in an auto-rickshaw. Vijay Singh is an auto-rickshaw driver.
