RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that that it would be judicious if the prices of Covid vaccine, to be supplied to the centre and the states are the same as both centre and state governments earn revenue from taxpayers’ money.
“After the centre decided that all above the age of 18 years can be vaccinated from May one, the state government has decided to provide vaccination free of cost to all in our state”, he said in his letter to the Prime Minister.
Baghel said the Centre and the states must get vaccines at the same price. “Since Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin has been developed with the cooperation of Government of India, its price should be cheaper than the one developed by the Serum Institute of India (SSI).
The chief minister also urged the centre to immediately provide details to state the details of number of dozes to be made available every month by the centre, the estimated number of dozes to be made available by SSI and Bharat Biotech and details about the price of vaccine to be supplied to the centre and the state.
Baghel said these details were essential for the state to make arrangement for budget, training of staff and for making other arrangements for starting vaccination so that a massive immunization campaign could begin as scheduled from May 1.
