This was tenth record daily increase in Covid-19 cases in eleven days. The number of active cases have soared to 19,29,329.
The country’s deaths from Covid-19 rose by a record 1,619 to reach a total of 178,769, according to health ministry data.
The daily coronavirus positivity rate in India in the last 12 days has doubled to 16.69 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate has increased to 13.54 per cent in the past one month, the health ministry said on Sunday. In Delhi, the positivity rate soared to over 30%, which means that every 1 in 3 people getting tested for the infection was found to be positive.
On Sunday, 13,56,133 samples were tested, taking the total number to 26,78,94,549.
Till Sunday, over 12 crore vaccine doses were administered. Four states, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh alone have administered more than one crore vaccines each.
