NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a series of high-level meetings on Friday to review the Covid-19 situation in the country.
The PM will review the Covid-19 situation in an internal meeting, interact with chief ministers of high burden states at 10 am and hold a meeting with leading oxygen manufacturers at 12.30 pm.
Amid acute shortage of medical oxygen in many states, the PM on Thursday asked officials to take urgent steps to increase production, speed up distribution and use innovative methods to provide oxygen support to health facilities.
After taking stock of the production and supply situation, the Prime Minister directed officials to ensure that oxygen supply to states happened in a smooth, unhindered manner, the government said in a statement.
“He spoke about the need to fix responsibility with the local administration in cases of obstruction. He also asked ministries to explore various innovative ways to increase production and supply of oxygen,” it said.
