KOLKATA: After exposing the new modus operandi of Jamtara gangs to park money gained through fake power bill and loan app frauds into automobile fuel filling cards and e-way toll wallets, cops have busted the gang.
It came under lens when cops began probing a power bill fraud from Tollygunge on March 3. “Anuraj Chaturvedi claimed that he received a fake SMS in the name of CESC. He then contacted the fraudster and downloaded an app. Subsequently, Rs 50,000 was transferred from his account to a petrol major’s card account named Drive Track Plus,” said DC (cyber) Atul V.
“We arrested the accused, Shivshankar Mandal (34), Mithun Mandal (27) and Tapan Kumar Mandal, all from Jamtara,” said Atul V.
