BENGALURU: A 38-year-old driver-cum-owner of a mini-goods truck succumbed to the injuries he sustained after 40 huge glass panes he was ferrying in his vehicle crashed on him when he was unloading them.
Police said the accident took place when G Shankar parked his vehicle outside a hardware shop on Vasantapura main road, and was unloading the glass sheets. Shankar went to the rear cabin and started untying the sheets. But they fell on him and crushed him to death.
Manager of a wholesale glass and plywood dealer in Amruthahalli had approached Shankar on Wednesday. “The manager hired him to transport the sheets to the hardware store,” a cop said, adding: “Shankar’s wife, Mala, filed a complaint. This is a case of clear negligence.”
