“We rushed four fire tenders to the spot. The fire was in chimney and false ceiling at first and second floor of the restaurant. No injuries were reported from the fire spot,” said Garg.

Deputy commissioner of police (New Delhi) Pranav Tayal said nobody was inside the restaurant when the fire broke out.

“There was only a security guard at the restaurant building. The fire was brought under control within half an hour. The cause of the fire is being ascertained,” added Tayal.

The police said they suspect a short-circuit in an electrical appliance may have led to the blaze.

However, the exact cause will be ascertained only after a spot inspection is established followed by a thorough probe.
