Security forces on Friday foiled an infiltration bid and killed a militant near Line of Control in Tangdhar sector of J&K’s Kupwara.
Army’s Chinar Corps, in a tweet, said they foiled an infiltration bid in a joint operation with police at Jabri area in Tangdhar.
The forces also recovered two AK-series rifles, three pistols and other war-like stores.
“At 0400 hours, suspicious movement was detected and contact was established by the ambush party as a part of joint operation. Resultantly, one infiltrator was neutralised about 800 metres from the Line of Control,” said defence PRO Col Emron Musavi.
Militant associate arrested from Sopore
Kashmir police claimed to have arrested a militant associate of Lashkar-e-Taiba from north Kashmir’s Sopore along with arms and ammunition.
The associate has been identified as Bashir Bhat of Manz Sopore, who was arrested by joint team of police, army (52RR) and CRPF (177 BN) on specific inputs regarding his presence near Peth Seer railway station.
“During his search, one hand grenade, one pistol, one pistol magazine, 15 live rounds and a mobile phone along with SIM card were recovered,” a police spokesperson said.
Meanwhile, army on Friday recovered 10 packets of narcotics from across the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, officials said. Troops launched a search operation along LoC in Doda with the help of sniffer dogs, they said. The search was conducted on the basis of a tip-off.
