KOLKATA: Soham Das, a Class XII student at DPS Ruby Park, is among 20 students from across the country who have got 100 percentile in JEE-Main’s January edition.
Soham, who lives in Lake Gardens, said he learnt about his result of all-India engineering entrance exam on night. “I am firmly set on cracking JEE (Advanced) and studying computer science at IIT-Bombay,” said Soham. He said his father, Suddhasattwa Das, a cardiologist, and mother Kasturi, a homemaker, had never interfered with his career choice.
“I have always ranked among the top three in my class,” he added. Soham scored 99.9 percentile in physics, chemistry, and mathematics. NTA score is not the same as percentage of marks obtained but normalised scores.
Soham said his teachers were happy with the result and so were his parents. “I have my boards ahead and I am spending a lot of time studying,” he said. Soham’s day usually starts around 8am and he is usually up till midnight. Though he spends a considerable number of hours, studying, revising the chapters and appearing for mock tests, he does not usually miss out on his daily round of football in the evening.
He is a fan of Polish footballer Robert Lewandowski but Germany is his favourite team. Like many in Kolkata, he backed Argentina after Germany’s exit in the group stages in World Cup. Soham said he loved reading in spare time, J K Rowling being a favourite.
