PUNE: The second semester of the 2022-23 FYJC has already begun across the state, but the secondary education directorate has decided to conduct one last round of the Centralized Admission Process (CAP) for students who have failed to secure berths in any junior college in Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik and Amravati.

The students can fill up the forms from November 12 to 15, while the respective deputy director’s office will allot the first year of junior college (FYJC) seats on November 17 and 18. The students will get just one day — November 19 — to confirm theiradmissions to the allotted colleges.
Meena Shendkar, assistant director of education for the Pune region monitoring the process for all junior colleges in the Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad metropolitan areas, said, “We have been receiving many applications from parents and students seeking admission to Class XI. Most of these students are new registrants. They may be students whose parents were recently transferred to Pune, or those who could not participate in CAP earlier due to medical reasons. ”
She said, “Till date, we have received about 120 applications from such students. Also, we have many studentswho want to change their stream or college for various reasons, such as being unable to cope with the chosen stream or getting a college far from home. ”
Till date, a total of 95,423 (85. 21%) students have applied in 319 junior colleges in the Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad areas. Of these, 78,898 students were admitted to the colleges. These colleges have an intake capacity of 1,11,990 students. There is still a vacancy of 33,092 (29. 55%) seats.
Shendkar said this would be the last centralized admission process for the 2022-23 academic year. “The students who have missed out on getting admission to FYJC courses are requestedto apply in this round. We do not want any student to lose out on an academic year. Those willing to cancel their admission in the previous rounds and apply anew can also do it. ”
She said the students should carefully check the options and fill in the details to get the colleges of their choice, provided there were vacancies. Besides, the students should ensure that marks are comparable to the final cut-offs in the subjects they are applying for.
Shendkar said students missing out on this round could approach the office of the deputy director of education, as the login for the admission process would be kept open for genuine cases.
