KOLHAPUR: Mahabaleshwar region in Satara district received 4,711 mm rainfall till Wednesday, surpassing last year’s record of 4,680mm showers.
The catchment areas of Koyna dam recieved 3,505 mm rainfall till August 17. It had received 3,609 mm rainfall during the corresponding period last year.
Meanwhile, Koyna dam’s water stock level has increased to 96.75 TMC. Currently, there is an ongoing discharge of 21,000 cusec which is the same since the last four days after the six radial gates of the dam were lifted by three feet.
The Krishna river was flowing at 23 feet 9 inches at Irwin Bridge in Sangli district on Wednesday and 50 feet and 6 inches at Narsinhawadi Datta Temple.
The water level of Krishna is rapidly decreasing due to reduction in rainfall and continued discharge of 1.25 lakh cusec from the downstream Almatti dam.
Kolhapur administration receives SKOCH Silver Award
Kolhapur district administration’s Centralised Public Address System (GSM operated) has received SKOCH Silver Award in district governance category. The administration has set up 615 PAS’s across the district. Under this, people are issued timely alerts regarding natural disasters. They are also informed of the public schemes through the PAS during peace time.
