Man kills friend, tries to dispose of body at Maharashtra’s Amboli ghat, falls to death with corpse | Navi Mumbai News – Times of India

NAVI MUMBAI: A 30-year-old man who allegedly murdered a friend over a dispute along with another close aide fell down a steep hill slope at Amboli ghat in Sawantwadi while trying to dispose of the body and died. The aide who accompanied him had a lucky escape, said a police source.
The source said that the deceased, Bhauso Mane, and his aide, Tushar Pawar (28), killed one Sushant Khillare (30) on Sunday following a dispute over a money transaction. All the three are residents of Karad in Satara. “Mane and Pawar travelled 400km to Amboli ghat in a car to dump Khillare’s body there. At the ghat, however, Mane lost his balance and fell down along with the body, and died,” the source added. “Shocked, Pawar then drove to a nearby temple, called up his family and confessed,” the source said.
The crime came to light when a local spotted one of the bodies and informed the police on Tuesday. Rescuers, accompanied by sub-inspector Amit Gote, pulled out two bodies, found about 10 feet from each other, 150ft downhill.
A Sawantwadi police station official said, “Amboli ghat receives the highest rainfall across the state and was once infamous for being a ‘favourable spot’ for dumping bodies. Two more bodies were dumped in the area in the past three years. Since then, a number of CCTVs have been installed across the tourist footfall route.” He added that the bodies have been sent for postmortem examination.
Inspector F B Mengde said, “We have registered an accidental death case. The family members of the three will be quizzed and then we will decide whether to lodge an FIR .”
Sindhudurg SP Saurabh Kumar Agrawal said, “Prima facie, the motive behind the murder is money issue.”
