CHANDRAPUR: A man raped a five-year-old girl in Vandra village of Bramhapuri tehsil on Saturday. Mendki police have arrested the accused, identified as Yuvraj Meshram (30), in this connection.
Sources said the girl was playing with her friends in Gurukunj Ashram in the village with her friends on Saturday. Meshram visited the spot and abducted the five-year-old. Scared, the other girls fled from the spot.
The survivor’s father was at a paan kiosk near the ashram and witnessed the commotion. He rushed there with others and caught the accused red-handed. Meshram was later handed over to Mendki police.
The girl was taken to Bramhapuri hospital for treatment and medical examination. An offence under charges of rape and the relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act have been registered against Meshram.
