MUMBAI: A 14-year-old girl has alleged that she was assaulted with a blade and molested in an empty rake parked near Lower Parel station by a man she had met for the first time that day. While the incident is said to have occurred early on July 11, the FIR was transferred to the Government Railway Police (GRP) for investigation only on Monday. GRP officers said they would verify the authenticity of the complaint.
The girl, who lives at Santacruz, left home around 10pm on the night of July 10. “She wanted to go out for a snack but her family was objecting to it. She walked out in a huff and took a train to Churchgate station,” a police officer said. After reaching Churchgate, she was roaming outside the station when she met a man in his early twenties. He made inquiries with her and later said that her brother was waiting for her at Santacruz station. The girl believed him. “He offered to take her to his brother and they boarded a train. But at Lower Parel station, he told her to alight,” the officer said.
According to the FIR, the man took her to an empty parked rake nearby. Around 2.30am, he got the girl to board a coach and started touching her inappropriately. The girl put up a fight and said in her complaint that he had a sharp object like a blade which he used to slash her throat. He then got off the rake and vanished.
The girl made her way back home to Santacruz later in another train. After she reached home, her parents noticed the injuries and rushed her to hospital. Doctors informed the Vakola police station.
An FIR was registered under IPC and POCSO Act against the accused on July 12.
