PUNE: Two people were killed in separate road accidents in Narhe and Warje, along the Katraj-Dehu Road bypass, on Monday.
Ambegaon Khurd resident Thakur Lakhan Kushwah (28), riding pillion on a bike, was killed after an unidentified vehicle hit the two-wheeler near the Swaminarayan temple around 4am on Monday.
His friend, Vinay Bhandari, was driving the bike. Bhandari also suffered injuries. The driver of the unidentified vehicle did not stop after the accident.
An officer of the Bharati Vidyapeeth police said Kushwah and Bhandari ran a food stall at Ambegaon. They were going to Dhayari for some personal work when the vehicle hit their bike.
In the other accident, pickup van driver Omkar Dattatray Pansare (21) from Junnar died after his vehicle crashed into the road divider in Warje around 4pm on Monday.
The Warje Malwadi police said the accident occurred on the lane going to Katraj.
The pickup van driver had lost control over his vehicle and it crashed into the road divider, the police added.
