NIA files chargesheet in Rohingya trafficking case, lists 6 accused | Guwahati News – Times of India

GUWAHATI: NIA has filed a chargesheet against six persons of Assam and Meghalaya on charges of trafficking Rohingya Muslims and Bangladesh Muslims into India through the porous international borders to “destabilize the population ratio and demographic scenario of the country.”
NIA arrested these six persons in March this year, which included five from Assam’s Cachar and one from Meghalaya’s East Jaintia Hills.
The Counter Terrorism and Counter Radicalization (CTCR) division of MHA on whose information the suo moto FIR was filed by NIA in December last year states, “The central government has received information that the racketeers from India who are in collusion with their Bangladeshi counterparts are inducing Rohingya Muslims and Bangladesh Muslims for their illegal entry into lndia through several porous border passages in Assam, Mizoram, Meghalaya and West Bengal and facilitating their entry with fake Indian documents.”
The FIR also states, “The racketeers are carrying out human trafficking of foreign nationals and arranging for their transportation with fake Indian documents to different parts of lndia. These racketeers have contacts all over lndia. These infiltrated foreign nationals mix up with common masses in the long run and settle in India permanently.”
One of the six, Kumkum Ahmed Chaudhury has been named as the kingpin of this human trafficking racket in the NIA charge sheet filed before the special court here. The FIR states that Chaudhury is “running the racket from Bangalore in association with Sahalam Laskar of Jammu and Raju Ali of neighbouring country and others. There is a well-designed larger conspiracy to exploit the illegal migrants and also to destabilize the population ratio and demographic scenario of the country.”
The charge-sheet states, “Investigation has revealed that the accused persons were involved in organised human trafficking of Rohingya minor girls and women in association with other conspirators based in different parts of the India and Bangladesh. The accused persons had arranged for transportation, accommodation, procurement of fake documents etc. for the trafficked Rohingya victims.”

Besides Chaudhury, the others from Cachar district are Ahiya Ahmed Choudhury, Bapan Ahmed Choudhury, Sahalam Laskar and Jamaluddin Choudhury. The one from Meghalaya is Wanbiang Suting.
