Oppo may be working on launching Apple AirTag rival – Times of India

NEW DELHI: After Apple and Samsung, smartphone maker Oppo is also set to enter the market of Bluetooth trackers. As reported by XDA Developers, the company is working on a new Smart Tag.
Oppo’s upcoming Bluetooth tracker looks a bit like the recently launched Apple AirTag. The image leaked online shows the circular design of the yet-to-launch device.
However, one key feature which distinguishes the Bluetooth tracker from others in the market is that it comes with a USB Type C charging port. This means that you will not have to replace the battery of the Bluetooth tracker instead you can just charge the device using any USB Type C charger.
This makes Oppo’s upcoming Bluetooth tracker environment friendly.
The report also revealed that Oppo Smart Tag will come with ultra-wideband radio for precise tracking. This is the same technology that Apple and Samsung use in their Bluetooth trackers.
Recently, Apple entered the Bluetooth tracker market with the launch of its much-awaited Bluetooth tracker AirTag. Priced at Rs 3,190, the AirTag can be attached to a handbag, keys, backpack, or other items.
Each AirTag is small and lightweight and comes in a round design with a removable cover that can be easily removed. Customers can personalise AirTag with free engraving, including text and a selection of 31 emoji, when purchasing.
The AirTag houses a built-in speaker that plays a sound to help users find its location. It is also IP67 rated making it both water- and dust-resistant.
