PUNE: The clamour to bring back big buses on Bajirao Road and Shivaji Road has brought about a change of mind in the PMPML‘s decision with authorities deciding to resume operation of standard sized buses on these routes.
Officials said the commuters were facing many problems due to non-availability of buses which made them recerse the decision to operate only midi buses on these two routes.
“Buses going and coming from Market Yard to Pimple Gurav, Market Yard to Kasarwadi railway station, Katraj to Pimple Gurav and from Katraj to Pimple Gaon will be using both these routes from Thursday. These routes will see the operations of standard sized CNG buses. Earlier, the above routes had been changed and routes via other roads. This will ensure that people waiting for buses on these roads get buses,” a PMPML official said.
Last week, the PMPML suspended all operations of big buses on these two roads and only midi Punyadarshan buses were plying. Commuters had said that they were not getting buses on time as midi buses were always fully occupied. The authorities had tried to increase the number of small buses to tide over the situation, but the the protests persisted.
