PUNE: The 68th Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Festival, scheduled to be held from February 2 to 6, has been cancelled amid the rising Covid-19 cases.
The decision was also taken keeping in mind the uncertainty regarding changes in curbs, said organiser Arya Sangeet Prasarak Mandal’s executive president, Shrinivas Joshi.
“Since this is Bharat Ratna Pandit Bhimsen Joshi’s birth centenary year, the festival was much in demand among fans. However, given the grandeur, scope and time required to organise the annual festival, there is no choice but to cancel it in the current situation,” Joshi said.
