LUCKNOW: The RSS has pushed its organisational machinery to shoulder the relief operations carried out by various state governments, including UP, which are grappling with the lethal second wave of Covid pandemic.
Sources told TOI that the BJP’s ideological fountainhead, has deployed at least two conveners in every district and for every region to coordinate with the organisational functionaries in reaching out to people who have contracted the virus and are in dire need of immediate medical help.
In case of Awadh Prant, the RSS has appointed senior organisational workers – Prashant Bhatia and Lalit Srivastava – to coordinate with the grassroot Sangh workers who have been asked to fan out across the state and provide all possible assistance – including medical and other essential services – to the people.
“The arrangement has been done in all regions across the country,” said RSS prachar pramukh (Awadh Prant) Dr Ashok Dubey. He said that the Sangh has been receiving inputs about Covid-affected patients facing problems in getting medical assistance including oxygen cylinders.
“The workers would help in providing medicines and getting the patients hospitalised. There are multiple issues which need to be taken care of at this point of time,” he said.
Sources said that the Sangh has activated its functionaries ward wise to keep a close vigil on people coming from outside the state. The step comes amid possibility of scores of people reaching UP in the wake of weeklong lockdown imposed in Delhi.
In Lucknow, for instance, functionaries of Sewa Bharti – the social work arm of Sangh – have already been pressed in providing oxygen cylinders to the critical patients who are, otherwise, in home isolation.
Vibhag Karyawah, Amitesh said that they are coordinating with the medical stores to provide medicines including Remdesivir injection to the needy. “We are taking care of other needs of patients and their families as well,” he said. RSS has also asked its functionaries to provide homemade `Kadha’ and other requisite material to the homeless.
The RSS getting into an overdrive comes even as BJP is chipping in to set up helpdesks across all districts in a bid to help the people amid steep surge in Covid cases. Sources said that the BJP functionaries would also be in close coordination with RSS to carry out relief operations.
