KOLHAPUR: A woman head constable is among six arrested by the Satara police in connection with the murder of a vehicle trader – who was the head constable’s husband – on the night of January 24.
A minor, who already has a criminal record, has also been detained in the case.
The accused, Ragini Bhosale, is posted at the Shahupuri police station as a head constable. According to the police, she hatched a plan to kill her husband and hired on-record criminals including a minor. She paid them Rs10 lakh, the police said.
On the night of January 24, Amit Appasaheb Bhosale(38) had gone to a restaurant for dinner. The accused fired six rounds at him and even slit his throat when they realised that the bullets had not done their job.
“We had suspects after the technical investigation, and they kept changing locations frequently, making us confident that they must be involved in the crime. We found that five of them were in North Goa. We sent our team and arrested them. Most of them are criminals with prior records. They were hired by the woman head constable. Ragini Bhosale told us that she was fed up with the domestic violence she faced from her husband, which prima facie is the motive behind the murder. The accused have been sent to police custody till February 10 by the court,” Samir Shaikh, Satara’s police superintendent, said.
The other accused include Abhishek Vilas Chatur, Shubham Hindurai Chatur, Raju Bhimrao Pawar, Sachin Ramesh Chavan, Suraj Dhaneshwar Kadam and a minor. According to the cops, the minor who was out on bail, had an attempt to murder charge registered against him in the same police station where Bhosale was posted.
