Saudi Arabia has banned its citizens from travelling to India and 15 other countries, citing a surge in Covid-19 cases there in recent weeks.

Apart from India, the countries where Saudi citizens have been prohibited from travelling include Lebanon, Syria, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Yemen, Somalia, Ethiopia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Libya, Indonesia, Vietnam, Armenia, Belarus, and Venezuela.

The travel ban was notified by the Saudi government’s Directorate General of Passports on Saturday.

As of now, the ban applies to Saudi citizens who wish to travel to the abovementioned countries. There are no new guidelines on whether Indian nationals will be barred from entering Saudi Arabia.
