“The driver of an Innova swerved to his right to avoid a collision and hit the median divider. The victims were travelling in another car that was coming behind the Innova and its driver could not slam brakes and rammed into the car,” said an officer of East traffic guard. Cops have detained the Innova driver. Traffic was disrupted for over 75 minutes on the flyover in the wake of the accident.
The other accident was reported from the Sukanta Setu around 7.15am when an auto, heading from Sulekha Crossing towards Santoshpur—Ajoy Nagar—Mukuandapur with four passengers, collided with a mini-truck, which was coming from the opposite direction. Six persons, including the auto operator and the truck driver, were injured in the accident near Santoshpur Trikone Park. Cops said that the accident occurred after the truck’s tyre burst.
Cops took the injured to KPC Hospital. Auto operator Susanta Pramanik (55) and two passengers Chandan Halder (29) and Rita Paul (36) were stated to be serious and admitted in the emergency ward. Three others, passengers Subir Mukherjee (66) and Sadhana Nath (33) and the truck driver Abhirup Kundu (26) were out of danger. In a third accident at the Clyde Row and St Georges Road Crossing, a pedestrian Sk Imtiaz was hit by an unidentified vehicle.
