MANGALURU: The Mangaluru City police has taken six persons into custody after they allegedly tried to create a nuisance and disrupt a Holi party on Sunday.
City police commissioner Kuldeep Kumar R Jain said that six people had been to the spot and disrupted the event. A non-cognizable case has been taken up.
The accused are Ganesh Attavar, Jai Prasanth, Balchander, Akshay, Chirag, and Mithun.
It is learnt that the activists belonging to Bajrang Dal had allegedly damaged posters of Rang Da Barsa-2023, season 6, a Holi festival held at Maroli.
However, the police were quick to intervene and brought the situation under control, said police commissioner Jain.
The activists damaged several flexes put up regarding the event. They reportedly picked an argument with the organisers saying that youths were behaving indecently. The organisers maintained that they had availed the necessary permission for hosting Holi festival at Soorya Woods in Maroli. A few youths were engaged in celebrating Holi at the venue.
The activists objected to the use of loudspeakers and also to the kind of dress worn by the participants, said sources.
