Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Punjab counterpart, Bhagwant Mann, will join the gathering a day after AAP announced it will launch the campaign titled “Modi hatao, desh bachao” on the occasion of the death anniversary of freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev.

The traffic advisory asked counters to avoid Jantar Mantar Road, Tolstoy Road, Parliament Street, Janpath, Ashoka Road, and Rajiv Chowk. “Traffic is expected to remain heavy on these stretches due to special traffic arrangements.”

Special commissioner (traffic) SS Yadav said the traffic has been affected since 8.30am in these areas. “We have advised the commuters to take alternate routes or avoid movement on this stretch to maintain the law and order situation near the demonstration site.”

AAP’s Delhi convener Gopal Rai said the party has invited leaders and supporters of all parties to Jantar Mantar. He said there is an undeclared emergency and the country’s democracy, parliamentary system, and judiciary are in danger. “AAP’s campaign aims to save democracy and uphold the constitutional values of the country,” he said.

Rai said non-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) governments are being prevented from working as per their constitutional mandate.

The AAP on Wednesday criticised the arrest of six people in connection with 185 cases that the Delhi Police said it has registered over posters put up in several parts of the city targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In a tweet in Hindi, AAP questioned what was objectionable about the posters that the cases have been registered for putting them up. “PM [Prime Minister Narendra] Modi, you probably do not know but India is a democratic country. So scared of one poster…,” AAP tweeted, adding that the “dictatorship of Modi government is at its peak”.

The cases have been registered at separate police stations in connection with the posters, in Hindi, that said: “Remove Modi, save the nation.” To be sure, the posters did not mention any author, party, or agency.

The AAP shared videos and pictures of banners and posters being displayed across the city. The visuals showed banners hanging from foot overbridges in Delhi.

Delhi BJP spokesperson Harish Khurana said the AAP is playing the victim card after violating the law by putting up posters against Modi anonymously. “AAP has a right to put posters but as per regulations, these posters must mention their name, the name of the printer and publisher as well as the number of posters being published.”
