PUNE: Two boys, aged 14 and 13, drowned in a farm pond near the Khandoba temple in Dhayari on Sunday morning.
Assistant inspector Bharat Chandanshiv of Sinhagad Road police told TOI, “Suraj Sharad Satpute (14), Pushkar Ganesh Datkhil (13) and one of their friends went for a trek on a hill near the Khandoba temple early on Sunday. While climbing the hill, they spotted a pond and decided to go for a swim.”
“Suraj and Puskar entered the water while their friend sat on the bank. After swimming for a few minutes, the two boys failed to come out of the water. Local residents rushed to the spot and called the police,” Chandanshiv said. Station duty fire officer Prabhakar Umratkar said, “After conducting a search for 15 minutes, we found their bodies in the water.”
Suraj was a ninth standard student of a private English medium school. Pushkar was a seventh standard student of the same school. The Sinhagad road police have registered an accidental death case.
