MUMBAI: The Global Task Force on Pandemic Response, a newly formed US-based public-private partnership organized by the US chamber of commerce announced the sourcing, shipping and delivering of 1,000 ventilators and 25,000 oxygen concentrators by this month end to India.
Supported by Business Roundtable, the task force is working with the Chamber’s US-India Business Council and the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum to take these immediate actions to help address the Covid-19 surge in India.
The first ventilators procured by the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation arrived in India on Wednesday. The remaining ventilators are expected to arrive by June 3. Medtronic will manufacture the ventilators and handle end-to-end shipping, installation and ongoing and virtual training.
Delivery of 25,000 oxygen concentrators with transportation support from FedEx will happen by the end of May, stated an official release. Creating the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) India Action Group to provide ideas and practical information to CHROs in India will also be part of the relief measures.
Through its Steering Committee, the Task Force will work to concentrate efforts where corporate support will be most beneficial.
