A video has gone viral on social media which shows people gathered on the road in Gujarat’s Surat searching for the diamonds. The incident reportedly took place on September 24 in the Varaccha area, a mini bazaar for the sale and purchase of diamonds.
People started looking for diamonds after rumours spread that a person accidentally dropped a packet of diamonds in the area, Ahmedabad Mirror reported. The media outlet stated that some people even collected dust from the market road and searched for the diamonds. Some even managed to find a few diamonds, but those turned out to be American diamonds, which are synthesised replacements for diamonds. Check out the viral video here:

One of the men who was searching the street for diamonds said that a man found a diamond. But it was an American diamond used in imitation jewellery or saree work. “It seems somebody played a prank,” he added.
