Young journos die of Covid-19 | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Two young journalists, Ashish Yechury and Chanchal Pal Chauhan, succumbed to Covid-19 on Thursday. Their passing was deeply mourned by former colleagues and the wider journalistic community.
Ashish, 34, the son of CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury, was undergoing treatment for Covid-19 at a Gurgaon hospital, where he breathed his last.
“It is with great sadness that I have to inform that I lost my elder son Ashish Yechury to Covid-19 this morning. I want to thank all those who gave us hope and who treated him — doctors, nurses, frontline health workers, sanitation workers and innumerable others who stood by us,” Yechury said on Twitter.
Chauhan, 46, a former automobile correspondent, passed away on Thursday. Understated, knowledgeable, eager to learn and a stickler for facts, Chauhan endeared himself to colleagues with his generosity. Many were the surprise recipients of apples from his orchard in Himachal Pradesh or a bottle of something spirited that was emblematic of his hometown. The outpouring of tributes on social media from fellow reporters and automobile industry executives was a testament to the regard they had for him.
